BUYBlue Estate – The Game – PS4 [Digital Code]

Introduction

Blue Estate is an on-rails shooter for the PS4. It does not use the PlayStation camera or controller light bar. Instead, it uses the built in Gyoscope that’s in every Dualshock 4 controller so no special hardware is needed except for a second controller to get a single co-op trophy. The game itself is relatively short (about 3 hours) but is a great example of how a game can incorporate the touchpad on the DS4.

Note – You will need to calibrate your controller often. Do so by hitting  or  with your controller pointed at the center of the screen. This can be done in game at any time.

Walkthrough

Step 1 – Beat the game on normal difficulty – There are 7 levels. You will need to get a 4 star ranking on each one as well as shooting all of the collectibles. In addition, there is one screaming person who will run across the screen in each of the levels you will need to kill. During this step, you really just want to learn and get comfortable with the controls. If you want to try to get 4 stars on on your first attempt at each level or pick up all the collectibles refer to the Wiseguy and A Good Earner trophy descriptions below for tips on how to do each of them.

There is one trophy that is tied to each boss fight. Try to get these during this playthrough. There are no checkpoints so you have just one shot each time you face off against the bosses. If you fail to get it, you’ll have a couple other opportunities during your 4 star cleanup run or during your Crazytrain playthrough. So don’t stress if you miss it the first time. The three trophies are:

Sik, Bro – Level 2 boss
Robbed the grave – Level 5 boss
 Bloodchopped – Level 7 boss

Step 2 – Get 4 stars on each level, get all hidden items (collectibles), and kill all screaming enemies. – By this point, you should have familiarity with each of the levels. With the game completed, you want to get 4 star global rankings on every level prior to starting Crazytrain difficulty. See Wiseguy for tips on how to get 4 stars for the levels. You also want to shoot all the collectibles as your ability to get all of them in a level directly effects your level ranking.  Refer to A good earner for a walkthrough on their locations.

The final thing you need to do is shoot the screaming enemy in each level. Think of this as another type of collectible. There is one in each level and you’ll hear him screaming as he runs across your screen. You’ll have to be quick to kill him, but as long as you know where he is and anticipate his arrival, you should get him without much trouble. See Keep Quiet for a their locations. The screaming enemy has no affect on your ranking outcome at the end.

Step 3 – Beat the game on Crazytrain difficulty – Hopefully you’ve played each level a few times because you’re going to use everything you’ve learned to beat this difficulty. It is not easy, but with some practice, it can be done without to much trouble. The first and last level are the two most difficult ones so if you can make it past the first level, you should be able to finish the game. This can be done in local co-op which will make this easier as long as your partner has a little skill. See the Capo trophy description for more information regarding Crazytrain.

Step 4 – Play the first level on co-op mode You will need a second controller to get the This thing of ours trophy. You can do this by yourself by loading up co-op and putting the second controller aside and completing the first level without any help. This is local co-op only. Co-op isn’t any more difficult and it’s the nearly the same as solo mode.

 Entered the Dragon
Complete level 1 in solo mode.

When you select play on the main menu, you have the option to switch between solo mode or co-op as well as change difficulty and select a level. Just finish the first level in solo mode to earn the trophy.

 This thing of ours
Complete level 1 in co-op mode.

When you select play on the main menu, you have the option to switch between solo mode or co-op as well as change difficulty and select a level. Just finish the first level in co-op mode to earn the trophy.

This will require you to have two controllers since co-op is not available online. If you have a second controller, you can do this solo by just leaving the second controller sitting there.

 Sik, Bro
Kill Kim Bong Sik, without getting hit by his projectiles.

Kim Bong Sik is the boss at the end of level 2. During the fight, he will fire many projectiles that you need to either make a gesture move on the touchpad to redirect it back to him, or shoot it before it reaches you.

The gesture you need to make is either swipe left, right or up.

 Robbed the grave
Kill Teniu the Grave, dodging all the crates.

Teniu the Grave is the boss at the end of level 5. During this fight, he will stop and pick up crates and throw them at you. You’ll need to very quickly make the appropriate gesture command on the touchpad. They’ll always be a set of three coming at you and the correct gesture motion is random..

When you reach this section of the battle, use the following tip. If you don’t know which direction you need to swipe on an upcoming gesture move, use your finger to make quick circle movements on the touchpad ahead of time. There is no penalty for an incorrect input. By making the a circular rotation on the touchpad, you will cover all possible gestures and the correct one will register. If you start spamming circular movements on the touchpad prior to approaching any gesture event, you will almost always score a quick gestures.

 Bloodchopped
Kill Bloodshot avoiding all his melee attacks and slapping his face everytime you can.

This during the Bloodshot final boss battle on the last level. There are three times his melee sequence will occur and they all happen at the end of each stage of the battle before he moves on. Getting hit by any of his ranged attacks is ok.

When he rushes into melee range, Bloodshot will try to hit you three times before giving you the option to melee him by swiping up. After you hit him, he will then try to hit you three more times followed by a another moment when you can melee him. So for each time this event occurs, it’ll look like this

Dodge
Dodge
Dodge
Melee Attack him (swipe up)
Dodge
Dodge
Dodge
Melee Attack him (swipe up)

This sequence will occur three times. The gesture to dodge will be random but it will always be left, right, or down.

The easiest way to do this is using the tip from Robbed the grave. When Bloodshot closes him to melee range, make a fast circular motion on the touchpad until he runs away. The trophy will pop once you defeat him.

 Made man
Complete the last level in solo mode.

Simply complete the game in solo mode on any difficulty.

 A good earner
Find and shoot all the hidden objects in the game in solo mode.

Each level has a set of objects that you must shoot. Many of them will only appear on the screen briefly so you’ll need to be quick. Also, if one of them is on the screen during a section where you are fighting enemies, make sure you shoot the hidden object collectible prior to killing the final guy because you’ll be carried off to the next section immediately.

At the end of each level you will see a results page and the far right one are the total objects you shot during the level. Shooting all of them will give you a 4 star rank, however, there is no way to see how many you have collected once you leave this page so manually keep track of which levels you didn’t find all of them. There are 8 on each level and use the video below to help you locate any of them.

The collectibles are:

  • Level 1 – The Twin Dragon – Lucky Cats
  • Level 2 – The Twin Dragon Part 2 – Lucky Cats
  • Level 3 – Bring out the Dead – Skullflowers
  • Level 4 – Tunnel of Murder – Golden Gods
  • Level 5 – The Maltese Chicken – Giant Eggs
  • Level 6 – Golfing with Grenades – Red Balloons
  • Level 7 – Bloodshot – Blue Masks

 Headhunter

Perform 3,000 headshots in solo mode.

Headshots should be your primary method of killing people so it shouldn’t be to difficult to get this. This is cumulative across all your solo mode playthroughs and level selects. You will most likely get this while attempting to get a 4 star global rank on each level.

 Nutcracker
Perform 200 nutshots in solo mode.

Nutshots are one method to kill someone and one of the categories you are ranked on for your star ranking. They are crucial to you getting a 4 star ranking so this will probably come with time. Just shoot 200 enemies in the groin for a nutshot. Sometimes they don’t register as nutshots but if you see it appear on screen, then you know it counted. These are cumulative across all solo mode playthroughs

 Wiseguy
Get a 4 Star global ranking at the end of all levels in solo mode.

You need to get a 4 star global rank on each level in the game. There are 9 categories that you are ranked on each time you play a level and each of those 9 have their own individual 4 star ranking. To get an overall global rank of 4 stars, you will need to get 4 stars on 6 or more of the individual categories. They are:

  1. Best Combo
  2. Quick Gestures
  3. Melee Attacks
  4. Average Enemy Lifespan
  5. Shooting Accuracy
  6. Warning Sign Kills
  7. Headshots
  8. Nutshots
  9. Hidden Collectible Objects

Your total time and total deaths do not factor into this at all. The way I went into this and got 4 stars pretty easily was focusing on Quick Gestures, Melee attacks, Nutshots and collectibles. These four categories are fairly easy to get 4 stars on if you devote time to them. My process

  1. Shoot all collectibles. If you are unsure of their locations, see A good earner.
  2. Quick Gestures – These are simple to get 4 stars on. A quick gesture is recorded when you make a correct touchpad gesture immediately after given the on screen prompt. When properly executed, you will see “speed demon +5000” on your screen. Most gestures counts including hair swipes, Chihuahua leg shake offs, health and ammo pick ups, opening doors, jumping, climbing, etc. Melee attack gesture prompts do not count. To easily get a quick gestures, make fast circular movements moments before approaching a QTE event. For example, you see ammo at the end of a hall, before reaching it, start spamming a quick circle motion on the touchpad and you will get a quick gesture.  If you’re unsure of QTE locations, just make the quick circular motion anytime you aren’t actively engaged in battle.
  3. Nutshots – Once a level started, I focused on killing 10-15 enemies with a nutshot and then focused exclusively on headshots only. Try to be efficient because each nutshot is one less headshot and you are ranked on both. If the enemy is wearing body armor, you may want to just go for the headshot instead or risk losing your combo.
  4. Melee Attacks – There are only a certain number of melee attack opportunities in each level. When you have a chance for one, don’t shoot the enemy. Let him come to you and you’ll need swipe the touchpad to kill him. You’ll know which enemies are going to be close enough for a melee attack they are carrying a melee weapon instead of a gun. Again, be careful not to shot them first. You’ll be alright if you accidentally shoot a couple.

Those are the fairly easy ones that you have the most control over. Now you just need to get 4 star ranks on 2 of the remaining categories.

  • Best Combo – You’ll need to rack up a massive combo to get 4 stars. Think 200+. There is a circle timer on the top of your screen with your current combo multiplier. When the white outline timer is empty, you’ll break your current combo and start new. A combo is built by killing enemies prior to the white outline being empty. You’ll keep the combo up as long as you quickly take out each enemy. The combo killer is running out of ammo. Make sure you reload prior to each encounter and if you have to reload during battle, do it immediately after killing someone or switch weapons instead. There are opportunities that you can hold  and you’ll take cover behind an object. When in cover, the timer is paused so at this point you can reload or even switch weapons.
  • Average Enemy Lifespan – This is one of the tougher categories and one I just ignore completely. This is how long the average enemy is on screen. To reduce this, you’ll have to be very quick and use environmental explosive objects to kill multiple enemies at a time. I found it best to just ignore this.
  • Shooting Accuracy – Really easy since the enemies don’t move around much. This will most likely always be a 4 star rank if you’re taking careful headshots with a single bullet. Each level has a secondary gun that is much better than the starting pistol so conserving ammo by getting one shot kills will help. With the assault rifle or SMG guns you get, take short tiny bursts and aim for headshots.
  • Headshots – After you get your nutshots, you should only be going for headshots the rest of the way with the exception for melee opportunities. All other types of kills will reduce the possibility to getting a 4 star rank on this so I found that using explosions to kill people was counter productive.
  • Warning Sign Kills – This is when you kill someone when they are about to shoot at you. You know they are about to shoot when you see the yellow circle. Enemies with yellow circles should ALWAYS be killed prior to you shooting at anyone else. You are ranked based on how often you shoot someone with the warning sign. Playing on Normal difficulty will give you more time to shoot them.

That’s it. Just get a four star rank on six categories and you will get a global rank of 4 stars. Do this for each level.

 Capo
Complete the last level in Crazytrain difficulty.

Crazytrain difficulty isn’t unlocked until you have beaten the game on either normal or abnormal difficulty and you’ll have to play the entire game on it.  Crazytrain is exceptionally difficult and will post a great challenge to all players. You can do this in solo mode or you can do it in local co-op mode which can make this a little easier if you have a good partner. This description is for solo mode and I’ll add info about co-op mode at the end.

You will have to always watch for the warning signs and take out any enemies about to shoot you very quickly because you don’t get that long of a window before they shoot.  When you start the game you will be given just 5 lives per level.  Each time you deplete all of your lives and reach the game over screen, you will have to restart the level from the beginning but you are given an extra life up until you have 10 total. So I recommend just killing yourself right off the bat until you have reached the game over screen 5 times. This will now give you 10 lives per level for the rest of the game.

The two hardest levels are the first and last one. Try to save your good gun ammo whenever possible, for example, in slo-mo times you can switch to the basic pistol. You will need very fast reflexes. Ignore all collectibles and forget your ranking. Without a doubt, the final chapter is the most difficult. You will probably replay this at least a few times. The best advice I have is to use your “bomb” pistol that you pick up whenever possible (it’s a one hit kill so don’t worry about headshots) and shoot explosive objects whenever enemies are near them. The gun’s explosive rounds will also kill nearby enemies if they are standing next to each other. When you reach the first river and slide down it, don’t use your bomb gun. Try to build up ammo and use your starting pistol with infinite ammo. While there is a ton of guys here, most of them won’t touch you . Try to avoid using the bomb pistol until you get to the beehive section. After clearing the beehive section, you’ll want  to have 4-5 lives left if possible

You will then go down a second river and you will no fun while trying to survive this. Go for headshots and warning sign kills exclusively and don’t forget to blow up the charges on the small damns the enemies built. Obviously you want to reach the final boss with as many lives as possible, but if you have just a single one left, it’s doable.

The key to the boss fight is to never miss QTE gesture swipes. The way I did it was by literally circling quickly on the touchpad the almost the ENTIRE time. It was a little awkward trying to aim and shoot while doing that, but it beat the alternative of dying and having to start over. Remember that during the fight you will often need to shoot explosive objects near Bloodshot to damage him the most. The only times I stopped circling the touchpad is  when traveling between areas or when he would throw the objects out into the air with the white circles around them that you need to shoot. At first he’ll throw 2 objects and if you shoot one, you can redirect the other one back to him. He’ll increase the number of objects he throws so you’ll have to shoot all of them except for the last one and that one you want to redirect back to him. If you can find a way to continually circle the touchpad and shoot at the same time, it shouldn’t be a problem.  You will most likely also earn the Bloodchopped trophy in the process, if you don’t already have it.

CO-OP
If you can find a local (meaning they are in the same room) co-op player, you may find this a  little easier. The game is identical in co-op so you’ll now have two guns firing at the same things a solo player would have had to do alone, plus enemy attention is divided between the two players. The warning signs will be either red, blue or both depending on which player is being targeted. Ammo pickups are split between both players but health is going to the first one who swipes for it. So if you have the luxury of having two controllers and a buddy, then you might find this to be easier, provided your partner isn’t a liability because you have a shared life pool. You will share up to 10 lives totals so an experienced partner is recommended. You will need to unlock Crazytrain difficulty for co-op mode so this means you’ll have to complete the entire game first on a lower difficulty even if you have it unlocked for solo mode.

 Down boy
Kill 20 enemies with a chihuahua on your leg in solo mode.

During the levels in which you play as Clarence, a chihuahua will occasionally jump onto your leg. You need to swipe up to kick him away. While he’s on your leg, you will need to shoot and kill 20 enemies. While he’s on your leg, your aiming is severely hindered. The 20 kills is spread across all your playthroughs on solo mode. You may get this naturally, but if not just replay Golfing with Grenades a few times and don’t immediately kick the dog off when it grabs your leg.

 Keep quiet
Kill the screaming enemy in all levels in solo mode.

Each level as one enemy that will run across the room screaming. You will need to be quick to kill him before he runs away. If can go back and do chapter select if you miss one in any of the levels. The locations are:
